Meet Stanley, the driving force behind transformative initiatives at Three Links Foundation. His instrumental role in establishing both the warming shelter and the Sunday Breakfast Program reflects his unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on our community. As a side note, Stanley is homeless and lives in a parking garage. We are eternally grateful for his guidance.
One of our most helpful guests, who became our dedicated ham slicer, has ventured to Victoria, contributing his skills to the construction business, specializing in building low-rises. We couldn’t be prouder of his journey and success.
In a poignant incident last December, our team arrived early to set up the Warming Centre and discovered Robert, an elderly man, lying on our concrete steps in -8 weather for two hours. Responding swiftly, we invited him inside, and he shared that he was too cold and weak to move. Having only eaten a couple of Halloween chocolate bars for dinner, he was in desperate need of help.
We provided Robert with a warm space, a nourishing meal, and a safe night’s sleep in our hall. The next morning, he walked out feeling significantly better. This powerful encounter underscores the critical role of the Warming Centre, as it became a lifeline for Robert in the face of harsh weather conditions and vulnerability.
